The Fruit of Light

One of the more interesting ways Yeshua described his father was as a gardener. This tells us that YHWH is tremendously interested in fruit. All gardeners are. No one puts care into an orchard or vineyard--planting seeds, grafting trees, weeding, watering, pruning, fertilizing, staking, and so on--and doesn't care if it isn't fruitful. YHWH is interested in fruit.

While salvation is a free gift from the sacrifice of the Messiah and not something that we can magically earn, reading the Scriptures does make it apparent that YHWH expects those with salvation to produce something. He expects fruit.

We know about the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. YHWH cares if these things are in your life. But what about the fruit of Light?

Ephesians 5:9 - For the fruits of Light are found in chesed and tzedekah and emet.
Chesed. Tzedekah. Emet. Kindness. Righteousness. Truth.

Anatomically, fruit is defined by the seed. Something is fruitful when it has the ability to reproduce itself. Kindness, righteousness, and truth are described as reproductive fruit. Being kind plants seeds of kindness in someone else. One righteous act enables me to act righteously again and again. Speaking truth pushes away the mess and confusion of lies.
YHWH is tremendously interested chesed, tzedekah, and emet. In you. In your life.

What is truth? The Word of YHWH. And that's not limited to the book of John and select Psalms. All His words are truth. From the Torah to the Brit Chadasha.
What is righteousness? Obedience to YHWH's word. What is kindness? Chesed in Hebrew is defined as mercy, goodness, and faithfulness.

How is the fruit of Light reproduced? When we have the faithfulness to YHWH to be obedient to the whole of His Word. It's having enough mercy on people that we recognize the best way to show the truth of YHWH's word is to put it in practice.

YHWH is a gardener. Are you fruitful?
