Did you know that the meaning of Yeshua/Yahushua is "YHWH is salvation"? Incredibly the name of the messiah appears literally hundreds of times throughout the Tanakh. For instance:
Psalm 27:1: YHWH is my Light and my Yahushua; whom shall I fear?
We would completely miss this if we stuck to English only. You certainly don't have to be a language expert or scholar to benefit from the richness of the original words of Scripture. Learning the original meanings of words like tzedekah (righteousness), emunah (faith), and shalom (peace) will greatly enhance your understanding of the word of YHWH.
Studying Scripture based on the original language it was written in adds a beauty and depth I never imagined. While I am a loooong way from "knowing" Hebrew the words and even the symbolic meanings of the letters I have learned has transformed the way I read Scripture. These simple things have greatly assisted my understanding of the original intent of the author and the culture of Israel.
